On-the-job training provides the opportunity to learn the necessary skills and gain valuable on-the-job experience while working in a particular occupation with a private sector employer. On-the-job training can be considered a “hire first, train later” program. Wage assistance is provided by CSC and is intended to reimburse the work site for the training they provide to help bring the employee up to production speed. This service is intended to lead to a regular job upon successful completion of the training.
What’s the Process?
1. Call CSC’s Workforce and Education Department to have your business and job opening pre-screened over the phone.
2. A local Workforce and Education consultant will complete a short worksite visit to answer your questions and learn from you the specific job(s) needed in your business.
3. Allow us to connect with your potential employee by phone to determine eligibility. A Workforce and Education representative will complete all of the paperwork for the employee’s enrollment. This must happen prior to the first day of work.
4. Businesses will be reimbursed up to 50% of the wage rate for the costs associated with training and additional supervision related to the OJT during the training period.
